A man in his 20s was killed and another injured yesterday afternoon when a truck and bakkie collided on the N14 after the R24 at Randfontein.
ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene at 14h40 to find both the wrecked bakkie and truck on the side of the road. A man was found lying trapped inside the bakkie while the male truck driver was found walking around on the scene.
Medics assessed the patients and found that the entrapped man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead. The truck driver was found with only minor injuries.
Medics treated the man and thereafter transported him to a nearby hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
