According to the Carletonville police, the incident happened on 23 June. Staff and customers were busy inside Hyper Cellars in Van Zyl Smit Street at around 15:36 when four unknown men walked in, wearing blue overalls and Covid-19 masks. They threatened everyone in the shop with firearms and took money, alcohol, cell phones and cigarettes before racing away in a silver Toyota Corolla. While the security cameras captured images of the men and their vehicle, the police later determined that the car’s registration number was false.
