According to the Gauteng Department of Health, there were 42 new cases reported since yesterday. Merafong’s total number of cases have risen over the 6 000 mark over the weekend. There are now a total of 6 102 of our residents who are infected with the disease, of which 5 485 patients have recovered and 230 have died. Elsewhere in the West Rand, there are now 16 262 cases in Mogale City (the Krugersdorp-area), of which 14 103 have recovered and 447 have passed away, as well as 8 617 in Rand West City (the Randfontein and Westonaria area), of which 7 514 have recovered and 251 have passed away. A total of 209 new cases were reported in Mogale the past day and 114 in Rand West.
