Truck driver and motorist died in Annan Road accident

The police have confirmed that two people died in last night’s accident on the corner of Annan Road and Kaolin Street in Carletonville. According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, the truck that caused the accident was on its way to the Oberholzer Silo next to the cooperation when it failed to brake along Annan Road.

The truck was driven by a driver only identified as “Mr Malawane”. He hooted to other drivers, and some realized that the truck might have lost its braking power.

The truck hit several cars at the corner and came to a standstill after colliding with a tree on the middleman in front of the Ford dealership.

Malawane died in the collision and the driver of a small car, which became trapped under the truck, also passed away. Several other injured patients were evacuated from the scene and taken to Carletonville Hospital and Fountain Private Hospital. The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

“The Road Traffic Act It requires that drivers must look around and check in their vehicle’s blind spots so that they avoid accidents and keep safe. Trucks must also be checked before a trip,” says Masooa.
