According to one of the people from this area, Mr Joseph Hlazo, sewage has been leaking from the yard of house No. 8161 for about three years.
This is not the only leak in this area, however.
The residents also pointed out large leaks at No. 8326, for example.
“This sewage makes our lives very difficult. It is unhealthy for our children and us,” he says.
Hlazo showed the Herald roads in the neighbourhood that the sewage had damaged so severely that not even ambulances, the police or delivery vehicles could reach certain houses.
“When you speak to the council, they say the people who can help us are striking,” he complains.
The Merafong City Local Municipality did not respond to questions about this continual problem on Tuesday.
