Numerous murderers behind bars

Carletonville’s detectives put numerous suspects behind bars in the past month.

On 24 February, two of the unit’s star members, WO Jacques Nagel and Const. Thabo Khare- jane tracked down two men in Wedela. The police had been searching for them for years. These illegal miners, aged 43 and 34, have been linked to two related murders in Blyvoor.
The first occurred in July 2019 when a man was shot during a fight at a tavern. A witness was murdered in April 2020, allegedly by the same suspects.
The pair has also been linked to two murders and cases of attempted murder in Wedela after going on a crime spree on 19 February.
On 15 February, Nagel, Kharejane and Sgt Wynand Kruger arrested two men in connection with an incident of mob justice when a group of people attacked and killed a burglar. They arrested another three suspects in connection with the same case the next day.
The ages of these alleged murderers range from 21 to 48 years.
“We owe these successes to the good teamwork between the members who made the arrests and excellent cooperation from the public. Anyone with information about crimes can contact the Carletonville police station at 018 787 9300 or myself at 082 463 0236,” says the Carletonville Detective Services’ head, Lt-Col Wessel Prinsloo.
