According to the Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, an employee of the KFC branch on the corner of Ada and Osmium streets, checked that everything was locked before leaving the business at around 23:00 on 21 February. However, when she opened the store at about 06:02 the next morning, the alarm had been deactivated. She could also smell something had burnt in the store. When entering her office, she noticed that someone had gained access to the two safes’ contents with a grinder. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
