SPCA has big plans for the new year

The Carletonville SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is planning exciting activities for the new year.

According to an SPCA inspector, Ms Elloise Rootman, the organisation is planning two big fundraisers for early next year.
“We could not do any events this year because of Covid-19, so these fundraisers will help us raise some money,” she says.
The first of the events is an off-road quad and bike day that will take place on 27 February. The SPCA will also hold a show on 30 April and 1 May, during which some national stars will perform.
People who wish to book stalls for this event can already start contacting the organisation.
The SPCA will use all the proceeds of the events to care for animals in the area.

Meanwhile, several pets are still up for adoption at the kennels. Owners who plan to go away on holiday and have not yet booked safe boarding for their pets can also make bookings.
For more information, call the SPCA at 018 788 6262. Their kennels in Beerster Street are open on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 11:00.
