A group of criminals who robbed a chain store in Carletonville’s central business area was arrested within hours of the crime.
According to the police, the incident took place at 10:40 on Monday, 17 August. Employees of the exact! store were busy with routine tasks when two men suddenly stormed in.
One of the suspects had a firearm and warned the personnel to obey their commands. They then forced two employees into a storeroom and made them open the safe. They grabbed cell phones and clothing before fleeing from the scene.
Police immediately started with investigations and the special trio task team tracked down the robbers in Soweto within hours of the robbery.
The SAPS arrested six men in connection with the crime and also recovered all the stolen goods.
At the time of the newspaper going to print, the police were still investigating whether the same criminals could be linked to similar crimes that recently took place elsewhere in the West Rand.
