Burglars cause big losses

Two burglars caused significant losses in two separate incidents this week.

The communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, says the owner of a business in the area last checked on his storeroom when he locked it at around midday on Saturday, 15 August. When he arrived at 09:00 the next morning, however, he found the door open. As he looked inside, he saw that a compressor worth R9,000 had been stolen. In another case, the gardener of a resident of Aster Drive in Carletonville called her at around 09:00 on 14 August. He said some of the tools he usually works with were not there. He wondered whether she had taken them to be serviced. When the owner of the house went to look, she found that a bush cutter, chainsaw and extension lead to the value of R7,837 had been stolen. All the tools had still been in their usual place four days earlier.
