‘Attempted murder victim’ turns out to be the suspect in a house robbery

The police in Carletonville attended to this incident on Tuesday, 7 July.

According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, police were called to a scene of shooting at a house in Khutsong Extension 5 at 03:40.  They found that the victim was already taken to Carletonville Hospital.

The tracked down the victim in the hospital where he was being treated for three gunshot wounds. The man told police that he was attacked by six men wearing balaclavas.

On further investigation the police, however, discovered that the man was in fact shot during a house robbery at another house earlier the same evening. Police consider him to be a suspect in this case and are still investigating how he got shot and by whom.

“The police are still piecing together information to find who else was with him at that house robbery. The luck of robbers runs go dry, leaving them in the hands of the law,” says Masooa, and adds that the suspect was placed under arrest in his hospital bed.

He will appear before the Oberholzer Magistrate court as soon as he is released from hospital.
