No loadshedding expected today

According to Eskom there will be no loadshedding today.

According to a statement released yesterday evening, the energy provider said that although there is some improvement on its system, loadshedding could still be implemented at short notice if there are changes.

“While the system remains vulnerable, several units have returned successfully and good progress has been made in replenishing emergency reserves,” says Eskom’s spokesman, Mr Sikhonathi Mantshantsha.

Eskom requested customers to use electricity sparingly, and gave the following tips on how this can be done.

  • Set air-conditioners’ average temperature at 23ºC
  • Switch off your geysers over peak periods
  • Use the cold water tap rather than using the geyser every time
  • Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time
  • At the end of the day, turn off computers, copiers, printers and fax machines at the switch.
