The police in Carletonville are warning pet owners to keep their animals out of the reach of pet thieves.
In one such theft case, a brindle and white bull terrier, named Tiger, was stolen in Dolomite Street on 8 July. The much-loved family pet was still at home when the owner left for work at about 05:30 but had disappeared when she returned in the evening. According to her son, Tiger was already missing when he got up at around 09:00.
The family later discovered that someone had cut the fence to gain access to the dog.
According to the police and the SPCA, many dogs, especially fighter breeds like bull terriers, are stolen for dogfighting.
Anyone who may have seen Tiger, or who has any information on where he can be found, is asked to contact the investigating officer, WO Cindy Botha at 079 692 3942.
