Star bodybuilder rakes in more titles

Carletonville’s star bodybuilder, Bafana Msiwa, has raked in even more titles recently.

The rather quiet Msiwa, who works underground at Sibanye-Stillwater, has started making a name for himself in the bodybuilding circuit over the past few years.
After starting the sport in Khutsong in the late 1990s, Msiwa achieved his biggest success so far when he came second in his weight category during the Mr Universe Competition in Taranto in Italy in October last year.
He competes in the class of bodybuilders under 1.77 m who weigh less than 70 kg.
Over the past weeks, Msiwa has again shown that he is ready for big things.
On 20 October, he took part in the Boksburg Classic competition organised by the IFBB (International Federation of Body Building and Fitness) in Kempton Park.
Of the 14 bodybuilders in his line-up, Msiwa took the second position. This qualified him for the annual Arnold Classic competition, organised by the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger. This event will be held in Sandton from 17 to 19 May next year. It is open to the country’s best bodybuilders and achievers in other sports like martial arts.
Last weekend, Msiwa also scooped the third place in the Mr and Miss West Rand bodybuilding competition in Krugersdorp.
‘This was my last competition for the season and I can rest a bit before the new season starts with the Arnold Classic next year,’ Msiwa told the Herald on Tuesday.
This ‘resting time’ still consists of many hours of practice and seven carefully planned meals a day, however. Msiwa will now be able to add some carbohydrates to his diet and drink less water than during his competition season.
He is currently giving other bodybuilders advice on their fitness and diets.
He is also looking for someone who can assist him with the special food and supplements he needs to stay in top condition.
Contact him on 082 792 4063.
