Mum badly bruised and battered by giant hailstones as she put her body on the line to shield her infant

She said she’d learnt a lesson – she’ll never drive in a hailstorm again

An Australian mom had to be hospitalised after being brutally battered and bruised by giant hailstones when she put her body on the line to shield her infant.

Fiona Simpson was travelling in her car with her grandmother and the baby when they hit a hailstorm near Kingaroy on Thursday.

Hailstones the size of  tennis balls smashed through the windows into the car.

“I covered my infant with my body to stop her from getting badly injured,” Fiona posted on Facebook from hospital.

“I’ve learnt my lesson today, never drive in a hailstorm.”
