A passenger died in one of several accidents that took place during the past week.
An accident between a white BMW and a Vaal Maseru bus occurred on 12 July around 14:00. Apparently the driver of the car was unable to make the turn into Thambo Street at Wedela and then collided with the bus in a head-on collision.
The bus and the car were both damaged in the accident and the driver of the vehicle was slightly injured. Another accident took place at Wedela around 16:00 when a silver Volkswagen Polo with four passengers was travelling in Wedela. The driver lost control of the vehicle. It overturned on the left side of the road and one of the passengers passed away at the scene. The other three passengers were taken to hospital. A case of culpable homicide was opened. On Saturday evening, 11 June, an accident involving 3 people occurred on Monkey Mountain. The cause of the accident is unknown as the mother and two children had to be cut from the vehicle with the jaws of life as they were trapped inside. They were transported to hospital by ER24 and ARS. Another accident took place later on the same Saturday night near Ext.5 involving two vehicles. A man and woman were taken to hospital due to serious injuries.
