“Delivering academic excellence will remain the focus” the new head says.

Advtech announced on Wednesday that Roy Douglas would take over as chief executive officer and executive director as of November 27 when Frank Thompson retires.

The private education group said Douglas brought 25 years of local and international senior management experience to the group. Prior to joining Advtech he held senior executive roles in various industries, including at Nampak Limited and Unilever SA, as well as at Deloitte in the US and House of Fraser in the UK. Advtech added that Douglas, who joined the group in December 2012, had led the successful turnaround of its tertiary division.

Advtech chairman Chris Boulle said: “Roy has shown clearly that he offers what is needed to head up the Advtech team, uphold our values, implement our strategy, and grow our organisation.”

Douglas said: “Delivering academic excellence will remain the focus and we have many exciting opportunities to explore which will enhance and expand our business.”
