African Bank strengthens board with new directors

Brian Riley and Happy Ralinala have been appointed as nonexecutive directors of the bank.

African Bank has appointed Brian Riley and Happy Ralinala as nonexecutive directors of the bank and its holding company, African Bank Holdings Limited (ABH).

Riley was chief executive designate of the old bank during curatorship and held the same position at African Bank when the restructured group and new bank commenced business on April 4, 2016. He stepped down as chief executive at the end of March.

Ralinala is the national president of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa, a nonexecutive director of the Small Enterprise Finance Agency and a member of the China Europe International Business School Africa international advisory board.

Group chairperson Louis von Zeuner welcomed the appointment, saying: “Brian’s considerable experience as a seasoned banker and Happy’s wide-ranging business and banking experience will complement the skills set of the bank and ABH boards.”
