Vedanta Resources has appointed Deshnee Naidoo as the chief executive officer – Africa Base Metals, in a move it says signals its commitment to enhancing its operations on the continent.
The company said Naidoo would combine the leadership of Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), in Zambia, and Vedanta Zinc International (VZI), in South Africa and Namibia, as well as Copper Mines of Tasmania.
Her appointment coincides with the departure of Steven Din, KCM’s current CEO, who will leave Vedanta group this July.
Naidoo joined Vedanta Resources in 2014 with over 20 years’ experience in the resources industry, including platinum, thermal coal and manganese.
Vedanta Resources plc is a global diversified metals and mining company with its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the largest mining and non-ferrous metals company in India and has mining operations in Australia and Zambia.
