AB InBev sells SABMiller’s Central and Eastern European units

The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2017.

Anheuser-Busch InBev announced on Tuesday that it had agreed to sell businesses formerly owned by SABMiller in Central and Eastern Europe to Asahi Group Holdings in a deal worth €7.3 billion.

The giant brewing company said the sale of the businesses in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania were part of commitments made to the European Commission in connection with its takeover of SABMiller.

The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in the first half of 2017.
