Show us your support on #ProteaFire Friday

South Africans to show their full and unwavering support for the Proteas in Australasia by wearing their national colours or Protea jerseys.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Lead SA are calling on all South Africans to show their full and unwavering support for the Proteas in Australasia by wearing their national colours or Protea jerseys during the ICC Cricket World Cup, which kicks off this weekend.

The Castle Lager Proteas play their first World Cup match against Zimbabwe on Sunday February 15 at 03:00 SA time.

“We are all poised for a good showing by our Proteas, and we want our fans to continue with their fantastic support of the #ProteaFire campaign,” said CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat.

“Over the past few months we have seen amazing support from all South Africans, and we want to continue our nation building initiatives by asking all fans to wear their Protea jerseys or South African colours and show their support on Fridays,” said Lorgat.

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Lead SA for their role in getting the whole country involved in supporting the Proteas.”

Lead SA activist Yusuf Abramjee commented: “We appeal to all South Africans to wear their SA colours and #ProteaFire shirts to show support for our team. Let’s all promote national pride. Let’s all get behind our boys.”

The new Protea ODI Cup replica jersey is on sale at various stores.
