Fire devastates family home

A fire broke out at a home along Stoffberg Avenue between 09:00 and 11:00 on December 4.

A fire broke out at a home along Stoffberg Avenue between 09:00 and 11:00 on December 4.

Some of the occupants of the house were home, others were visiting family in Sundra and some were at work.

The occupants that were home sustained minor injuries and burns and were treated for smoke inhalation.

The house is home to 15 people who have now lost everything.

Three dogs and a budgie in the house died before the fire brigade managed to extinguish the blaze.

Community forums helped on the scene by blocking off the road and keeping people away from danger.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. People who wish to help the occupants may contact the owner Johan on 068 554 0903.

Any donations are welcome but baby and toddler clothes will be most appreciated. People can also help with food, toiletries and money.
