A man was killed on Thursday afternoon when his light motor vehicle rear-ended a truck on the N17 eastbound near the Heidelberg off-ramp in Brakpan.
ER24 came across the incident at 12:40 to find both the truck and light motor vehicle in the emergency lane.
The body of a man in his 60s was found trapped inside the vehicle.
Medics assessed the man and found he had sustained numerous fatal injuries.
Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead. The driver of the truck escaped injury.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
