High-speed action for Cheetahs

Sunday, October 13, will see corporate teams race for the top spot on the podium at the Zwartkops Karting track.

The 11th iteration of the annual Charity Cheetah Karting day will take place on Sunday, October 13. The event which celebrates speed is in aid of the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre, which cares for the fastest animals on land close to Hartbeespoort. Having a rich history in motorsport representing brands such as Alfa Romeo and Abarth, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles South Africa (FCA), will be pitting their most talented employees against the corporate teams and media teams in attendance.

“With such a rich racing heritage in our Alfa Romeo, Abarth brands and our Jeep brand enabling customers to conquer the great outdoors, this event poses the ideal opportunity for our passionate motoring team to demonstrate their skills for a good cause. Some of our team members are real petrolheads and quite useful behind the wheel with professional and amateur racing experience under their belts. You can never take the competitor out of a racing driver, but even if we finish last, the real winner will be Cheetah conservation and we’ll have had a lot of fun doing it,” Graham Eagle, Managing Director of FCA South Africa.

While FCA is aiming for the top spot on the podium, Autodealer editor, Sean Nurse will be taking part as captain of a media team that has been entered. FCA has entered an additional two teams from head office to take part in the fun charitable day and thereby reinforcing their commitment to the business in South Africa. “It’s a wonderful way to connect our international participation in Formula One with Alfa Romeo and being locally relevant by contributing to conservation,” concluded Eagle.
