Story: Brakpan street to be renamed in honour of struggle icon

Michelle Paxton Smit:

Stop wasting money on renaming and start to rehabilitate the town that looks like a rubbish dump. Use the money for workshops and so on to give the people of Plastic City life skills to help them look after the environment and provide for themselves. Restore dignity and respect, that’s what struggle icons fought for, a better life, not a street name. Stop wasting the taxpayers’ money!

Janet Mathekgana:

Build a new town and name their streets. Leave Brakpan out of this. Take the money and clean this town. A lot of shops are closing down and more people are becoming unemployed. Create jobs for people. Fix and reuse the old library into a safe place or office or something. Don’t rename the street. Now I must spend money. I have to change my books and sign to add the new name. Come on!

Madelein Coetzee Lundie:

Ag regtig?

Rene Henning:

Hul moet daardie hele pad vol spoedwalle maak.

Wynand Holtshausen:.

Stop signs? Just another red sign. Means nothing. Know the feeling.

Jessica Liebenberg:

I went past the dam today and I saw that the boat is standing there but the dam has still got the plants. Now if they drive the boat in that dam the boat can get stuck and the people can get hurt. My question is how long does it take people to clean a dam before taking another task?

Dirkie Pietersen:
