Car show returns this weekend

The show is hosted annually at Muriel Brand School, which is the benefactor of funds collected on the day.

The Just Wheels Car Show 2018, which takes place tomorrow (Saturday), promises to be bigger than ever before and car enthusiasts can prepare themselves for a show in top gear.

More than 600 classic cars were on display at last year’s event, which attracted over 3 500 visitors.

According to Bart Zaayman, show organiser and member of the Just Wheels Car Club, this year’s event will see a wide range of car-related activities around the core exhibition of classic vehicles, such as the now popular 4×4 track built at the school.

Other major attractions include an ox-wagon, tractors and stationary engines, a few racing cars and radio controlled 4×4 cars.

There will also be a large collection of Cobra vehicles this year.

Live entertainment will be provided by Die Ventertjies, Die Kitaar Kêrels and Taipan.

“With a master of ceremonies like Danie van der Westhuizen, who will sing a song or two, there is certainly no shortage of entertainment,” said Zaayman.

He also assured that there would be no shortage of food and drink.

Visitors are invited to support Solidariteit Helpende Hand’s food project and to bring along a non-perishable item of food.

“The San Michelle Home also urgently needs 200 blankets and we would appreciate it if the public could also give blankets,” said Zaayman.

Every year, the show organisers try to bring a surprise element to the show and this year is no exception.

Without letting the cat out of the bag, Zaayman stated the surprise would “land” at about 10am.

Gates open at 8am and the entrance fee is R30 for adults and R10 for children.
