Township life on display in new art exhibition

This local artist has developed his own individual style of mark-making.

An exhibition of paintings, mixed media, collage and assemblages by KwaThema-born artist Pat Sithole will adorn the Springs Art Gallery from this Saturday (November 4).

Titled Slice of Life, the solo exhibition’s name holds many meanings: the interpretation of the past, present and future as continuous events.

Sithole’s artworks explore how people in townships relate with each other, based on his life experiences living in KwaThema.

His work is largely influenced by township life and the general vibe there.

This local artist has developed his own individual style of mark-making, by using soft pastel on canvas and paper.

“I am captivated by the vibrancy and brilliance of colours and light,” he said.

The exhibition will run until noon on Friday, December 22.

On Saturday, the exhibition opens at 2pm.

The Springs Art Gallery is situated in the library building at the corner of Fifth Street and Sixth Avenue, in Springs.
