Dewald Wasserfall to rock at Afrikaans Karnaval

Dewald Wasserfall, one of the greatest artists to happen to the Afrikaans music industry, will be performing in Carnival City’s all new Afrikaans Karnaval on Saturday, March 25, sharing the stage with some of South Africa’s best.

Wasserfall’s fans can look forward to hearing many of his grooviest songs, including material from his track-titled album ‘Jy is die Storm’.

Wasserfall’s career started in 2006 as part of the Wasserfall band which released hits such as ‘Suikerbos’ and ‘All about me’, and achieved moderate success.

Although he obtained a Higher Diploma in Entertainment Technology, he felt music was his calling and, in 2010, he decided to take on a solo music career and has never looked back.

‘Vergeet wat jy van Liefde Weet’ was his first solo album to be released and with hits ‘Eendag as ons groot is’, ‘Sewentien’ and the title track, the album not only reached platinum status, but also won awards for Best New Artist at both the Ghoema Music Awards and the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards.

Ghoema and Tempo awards were not all Wasserfall reeled in.

Shortly after releasing his first album, his second album ‘Ek en Jy’ was released, reached gold status and earned Dewald a Sama for “Best Contemporary Music Album,” something Wasserfall has added to his wish list for years.

The album also received four Ghoema nominations and another Tempo nomination.

Wasserfall is described as an avid, seasoned songwriter, perfectionist and passionate traveller.

Jokingly, he also admits to being an awful golfer, someone who wears T-shirts and is not an exceptional guitar player.

He believes in surrounding himself with excellent people – and excellent biltong.

Catch Wasserfall alongside some of the biggest names in Afrikaans music at Afrikaans Karnaval.

Also in the mix for the event are Karlien van Jaarsveld, Tripple 3 (Dozi, Jannie Moolman, Pieter Smith), Lianie May and many more.

The Big Top Arena’s doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm.
