Shortstraw added to festival line-up

With their simple melodies and catchy rhythms, Shortstraw has taken pleasure in rocking the most prominent live music festivals, venues and clubs in the country and have earned themselves a loyal cult-like following nationwide.

With a number one album to their name, an MTV Africa Music Award nomination and as a winner of two MK Awards, Shortstraw is a fitting addition to the dynamic and diverse line-up of acclaimed bands, including international band the Pixies, collaborating for Rock on the Lawns at Carnival City on March 18.

With their simple melodies and catchy rhythms, Shortstraw has taken pleasure in rocking the most prominent live music festivals, venues and clubs in the country and have earned themselves a loyal cult-like following nationwide.

In 2016, Shortstraw toured Europe for the first time with two fellow South African bands, Al Bairre and December Streets, performing at various venues including Privatclub in Berlin, The Queen of Hoxton in London, The Great Escape Festival in Brighton and Melkweg in Amsterdam.

Ever the innovators and keen to do things differently, Shortstraw decided against a conventional release of their latest album, Those Meddling Kids.

Since September 2016, the band has instead released one song from the album on the first Friday of every month until they will have introduced the complete collection.

This unique move is aimed at giving each song, and those who collaborated to produce and market it, a chance to shine.
