#AfricaMonth: The Kenyan grannies of cool

As Africa Month reaches its end these photographs of Kenya's extravagant grannies will keep you oh so inspired.

Kenyan photographer and digital artist Osbourne Macharia showed the world the sassy side of Kenyan grannies with his latest photo series.

The images capture the heart, attitude and unbreakable charisma of the retired women that were featured. They have led interesting lives, took on powerful positions and you can see their fierceness in the photos.

Macharia said in an interview: “This is the story of Kenya’s League of Extravagant Grannies who were once corporate and government leaders in the 1970’s but are now retired. They now live the retired high life travelling to exotic and remote areas within Africa to explore, party and enjoy in exclusivity.”

“We managed to catch up with three of them in Somalia soon after they landed. Little was know about them until now…”
