Top 10 tips to stay cool during summer

Keeping cool during the scorching summer heat isn’t only for your comfort, but also for your health.

Heat related illnesses include heat rash, sunstroke and heat exhaustion.

To make it easier for you, the Herald made a list of our top 10 tips to stay cool:

Keep a spray bottle filled with water in the refrigerator for a quick, refreshing spray over your face or body whenever you need it.

Rather stay indoors if the heat is intolerable, to avoid getting sunstroke.

Put your water bottles in the freezer before you need to go outside to keep the water cold for longer.

Running cold water over your wrists for a few seconds will help you cool down.

Take a cold shower or bath.

Wearing cotton clothing will keep you cooler.

Try to keep curtains closed, so that sunshine won’t enter the house.

Keep hydrated by drinking water rather than alcoholic, caffeinated or carbonated beverages.

Open windows, or even a door, to let in fresh air.

Use a hot water bottle as an ice pack during summer by placing it in the freezer after filling it with water.
