Brakpan crushed in disappointment

Brakpan had come into the match looking strong but they came unstuck against Tuks.

Last weekend did not start off well for Brakpan Rugby Club.

Star signing Jacques Potgieter was ruled out of Saturday’s match against Tuks as he needed a colon operation on Friday.

Things got worse on Rugby Day, at Bosman Stadium, as Brakpan’s first team were thumped 72-13.

Brakpan had come into the match looking strong but they came unstuck against Tuks.

The local side pushed hard but they just could not get their physical game going as the visitors ran the hosts off the park.

Brakpan’s second team fared off better against Germiston Simmer as they drew 26-all.

Brakpan will be hoping stars such as Madoda Dlamini will gel well with the new players in the squad.

This result might dent the local side’s confidence as they continue to prepare for the upcoming season.

With their match against East Rand United which was supposed to take place on Saturday having been postponed, Brakpan have time to fix their mistakes.

They can still improve and have a good season.

Given that Brakpan is coming into the season with a number of new players, they will want their team to gel as soon as possible.

Results from other matches are as follows:

· Brakpan Second Team drew with Germiston Simmer 26-26.

· Germiston Simmer First Team beat Edenvale 80-0.

· North University First Team beat Roodepoort 24-7.

· Centurion Second Team beat Roodepoort 59-5.

· Centurion First Team beat Boksburg 29-21.
