Black Ice freezes out The Jackal

It was an exciting match filled with hard-core action, but in the end Black Ice reigned supreme.

Brakpan’s John Hlongo, also known as ‘Black Ice’, a pro wrestler for South African Pro Wrestling (SAPW), defended his hard-core title for the first time this past weekend at the Rockfest at Cruise Inn.

His opponent, the former heavyweight and hard-core champion ‘The Jackal’, could not succeed in pinning him after using multiple weapons to his advantage.

Hlongo, originally from Limpopo, joined SAPW six years ago and since then has been making waves in the wrestling scene.

Other matches on the day saw ‘Big Fire’ defend his heavyweight championship against ‘Cowboy’, while ‘Griffin’ and ‘Fisherman Fred’ ensured that the crowd was entertained with high-flying action.

A triple threat match was also fought between ‘Mr Boombastic’, ‘Rayn Angel’ and ‘Full Metal Jacket’, with the winner being ‘Rayn Angel’ after a three-count pin fall.

The event was for a good cause as SAPW and Bob Ffole sacrificed their talent and time in a fund-raiser event for five-year-old Conor van Baalen who needs a kidney transplant.
