Jarvis to debut for his country in Botswana

Jarvis, alongside teammates Martin Vorster, Christo Lamprecht and Sam Simpson, are out to chase a 21st consecutive victory for South Africa in the prestigious All-Africa Junior Golf Challenge.

State Mines Country Club junior Casey Jarvis will make his debut for South Africa in the GolfRSA National Squad at Phakalane Golf Club, Botswana, from March 12 to 15.

The winning team and the runners-up of this African qualifier for the prestigious Toyota Junior Golf World Cup will compete against the cream of global junior golf in Japan later this year.

“We are delighted to award Casey national colours this year,” said South African Golf Association (SAGA) president Geoff Taylor.

“Casey has been a force in junior golf for some years now.

“Since winning the English u-14 Stroke Play, he has competed twice in Italy and enjoyed a watershed season in 2018.

“He won both Nomads SA Boys u-15 and u-17 championship titles, as well as the Africa Junior Open and clinched his first title on the open amateur circuit in the Ekurhuleni Open.

“We are very excited to send this team to Botswana.

“They have all acquitted themselves very well over the past 12 months and made their mark with superb individual performances.

“They have also represented their individual provinces at junior and open amateur level in the SA Inter-Provincials and performed exceptionally well.

“We are confident that the team will do us proud in Botswana.”
