Local kickboxers perform in Pretoria

XKT president and Brakpan resident shihan Raymond Phillips said that he was pleased with his students’ performances at the final Great North tournament of the year.

Local kickboxers from Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies (XKT) competed at the last of the Great North series tournament of the year, Great North 3, which took place in Valhalla, Pretoria, recently.

“Excellent results were achieved by all of our XKT clubs across South Africa particularly our Brakpan and Edenvale branches who brought back many medals,” said Phillips.

He added that there will be a few smaller events taking place before 2018 ends.

The next event, the Tiny Titans for all u-15 and younger kickboxers, will take place at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre on October 27 while a mixed martial arts (MMA) development tournament will also be taking place on the day.

“Kickboxing is a high-intensity sport that takes many hours of sweat, bruises and sometimes tears,” said the shihan.

“It becomes a way of life and creates a healthy lifestyle, both mentally and physically.”
