Great North 2 is back

Close to 400 fighters from all over South Africa took part at last year’s event.

Shihan Raymond ‘The Whip’ Phillips, tournament director and president of Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies (XKT), is bringing one of the biggest South African Kickboxing Association (SAKA) sanctioned kickboxing events, Great North 2 back to the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre on August 25.

The representatives from Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies’ (XKT) Brakpan branch at the last Great North 1 Championship in Valhalla, Pretoria are, back: Sensei Ryan Phillips (team coach), Ryan Roets (gold medal in full contact), Sharkiroon Peck (bronze medal), Frans De Bruyn (two gold medals), shihan Raymond Phillips (XKT President). Front: Matthew Gething (gold medal), Calie Boshoff (silver medal and bronze medal), Morne Simpson (silver medal and bronze medal). Absent: Brendan Davis (two gold medals), Johan Bosh (one silver
medal and one bronze medal), Juan Grove (two gold medals) and Christian Smit.

The tournament is an open competition for all amateur SAKA-affiliated fighters in the styles of semi-contact, light contact, full contact, K1 and forms.

The competition will begin at 9.30am.
