Wrestlers show their soft side

Some of the best wrestling talent South Africa has to offer will be giving up their time and putting their bodies on the line to make a difference.

Fighters will take to the ring for a good cause, in an action-packed wrestling extravaganza tomorrow (Saturday).

The Charity Slam, presented by South African Pro Wrestling (SAPW), will take place at the Springs Rugby Club from 4pm.

SAPW has been based in Ekurhuleni for nearly a decade and holds local wrestling events on a regular basis.

The SAPW training centre, in Brakpan, has produced some great wrestling talent.

To thank their loyal East Rand fans for the support, SAPW hosts an event annually, in which they give back to the community.

This year, SAPW will be joined by West Rand-based Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) for the Charity Slam.

Entrance to the event per person is an item of non-perishable food, such as sugar, pasta, soup or tinned goods, or a donation.

Some of the best wrestling talent South Africa has to offer will be giving up their time and putting their bodies on the line to make a difference.

All collected items will be distributed to various local organisations in desperate need of assistance.

The event will feature SAPW Heavyweight The Crow, HWA Heavyweight champion Xterminator, Steve Eden, Hector Payne, Big Fire and many more.

Brakpan residents and wrestlers – The High Flying Sensation, Griffin and the SAPW Hardcore Champion, The Jackal – will be in action at the Charity Slam.

The event will see The Jackal defending his title.

The Springs Rugby Club is situated at the corner of First Avenue and Fourth Street, in Geduld.

Gates open at 3pm.
