Quads 4 Quads mass riders return home

On Sunday, October 9, about 600 quad bike and two-wheel motorcycle riders, including several quadriplegic and paraplegic riders on adapted quads, ended a spectacular journey from KwaZulu-Natal to Carnival City, in Brakpan, as part of the 13th annual Quads 4 Quads mass ride.

During the event, that started on Thursday, September 29, each rider faced about 250km for eight hours each day, on a journey which took them to Ballito and then back to Gauteng.

Started by The Adventure Company, run by Glenn Foley and Corinne Andrews, to raise funds and awareness for QASA, Quads 4 Quads has raised over R7-million.

Ari Seirlis, the CEO of QASA, as well as other well known quadriplegics and paraplegics, rode adapted bikes.

Quads 4 Quads is not a race, but a family ride, which encourages everyone to get involved, whether they’re helping at the daily rest stops or joining the riders off-road.

Shane Collinson (9), from Krugersdorp, was the youngest participant in the Quads 4 Quads mass ride, which ended at Carnival City on Sunday.

The race represents the spirit of QASA and quadriplegics everywhere by their firm belief that having a physical disability does not affect their ability to endure and to be the best that they can be.
