Bulldogs show their teeth

Ten Brakpan Bulldog wrestlers travelled to Cape Town during the recent school holidays, to take part in the South African Youth and Junior Wrestling Championships.

Jason Amiras (u-13), Fernando Booysen (u-13), Jaco Breedt (u-13), Julio Breedt (u-15), Michail Dvoulety (u-13), Ondrej Dvoulety (u-15), Rohan Momberg (u-15), Nathen Pieters (u-13) and MC Uys (u-15) represented Brakpan Wrestling Club in the Cape.

Martin Erasmus was the club’s only junior representative at the championship.

The young Bulldogs did extremely well, bringing home five gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

Michail Dvoulety became the club’s newest first time South African Champion in the u-13 36kg to 39kg Greco-Roman Division.

He also managed to win bronze in the u-13 36kg to 39kg Freestyle Division.

Booysen also won gold medals.

The young wrestler dominated on the mat to win in both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions in his u-13 30kg to 33kg weight class.

Erasmus achieved gold in both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions in his Junior 84kg to 96kg weight class.

Ondrej Dvoulety left Cape Town with silver around his neck, with a win in the u-15 63kg to 69kg Freestyle Division.

Rohan Momberg brought home bronze medals, with a good showing in the u-15 54kg to 58kg Greco-Roman and Freestyle divisions.
