Good first round for Havengas
Brakpan husband and wife duo, Wouter and Elise Havenga, made the best possible start to the first round of Drag Nationals at Tarlton International Raceway, on Sunday, March 29.
The event was initially scheduled for March 22, but was rained out and postponed to the next week.
This year, Elise started competing in the Super Street Class (street legal cars running between 11 and 14 seconds).
In a field of 14 entries, the Brakpan driver stormed home to win the first round in her class in her V8-powered BMW.
Her husband, Wouter, raced his Hoosier Escort in the Competition Eliminator category (cars running between nine and 13.5 second) and managed to get to the final, only to jump the start in the last round which gave him second place for the event.
