Rossouw replaces injured De Kock

Chevrolet Knights batsman Rilee Rossouw has been called up to the Test squad to replace the injured Quinton de Kock for the remainder of the Test Series against the West Indies.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) today named Rilee Rossouw as the replacement for Quinton de Kock in the Castle Lager Proteas squad for the remaining two Sunfoil Test matches against the West Indies to be played at St. George’s Park and Newlands over the festive period.

De Kock has been ruled out by an ankle ligament injury sustained in the first Test match at SuperSport Park.

According to CSA selection convener, Andrew Hudson, “Rilee has been knocking on the door for some time.

“He and Temba Bavuma shared a partnership of 343 at a run rate of almost four to the over in the recent winning series for South Africa A against Australia A.

“The fact that he has also recently represented the Proteas in both the limited overs formats means that he will integrate easily into the Proteas squad system.”

After displaying some great fielding as a substitute in the first Test, it would be interesting see if the selectors would opt for Bavuma over Rossouw in the starting 11.

The second Test will be played in Port Elizabeth, at the St. George’s Park on Friday December 26.
