The first bird, belonging to Hennie du Plooy, was timed at 12.37.52pm, with a velocity of 1 655.002mpm, followed by the partnership of Frik Smit and Hennie Pienaar (CX Hokke) who claimed all the places from second to seventh.
The second bird was timed at 12.39.14pm, with a speed of 1 652.004mpm, while their seventh and final bird was timed at 12.40.16pm, with a speed of 1 646.503mpm — a remarkable effort.
At 8.15am the open birds were liberated, with Mark Viljoen’s bird claiming first position, timed at 1.20.01pm with a speed of 1 669.424mpm.
Koos Booyse claimed second place.
His bird clocked in at 1.22.26pm, with a speed of 1 669.301mpm.
Third place went to Hennie Botha, whose bird was timed at 1.23.51pm, with a speed of 1 668.773mpm.
