According to club chairman Harry Nieuwenhuis, the day was cold and dark and not a lot of fun for any of the teams involved.
With the Brakpan first team unable to control those external factors, the only objective for them in their Valke Peregrine League game was to ensure that they scored four tries (for a bonus point) in the shortened encounter.
Brakpan would go on to score the tries and win the game 22-15.
“Our forwards were very good again, but we kicked poorly out of hand and some of our decisions were not good at all,” Nieuwenhuis said.
“Nevertheless, we will take the five points and are now looking forward to playing against and hosting Vaal Reefs at Bosman Stadium, this weekend.”
Try-scorers for Brakpan were Wikus van der Berg, Matthews Mtshali, Uwe Sauer and Dean van der Merwe.
Brakpan’s second XV defeated Vereeniging 19-0, and the third XV were 25-23 winners on the day.
