2013 Ekurhuleni Sports Awards nominations now open

Nominations for the 2013 Ekurhuleni Sports Awards are now open and individuals, clubs and organisations are invited to submit their candidates for the awards before February 3, 2014.

Spearheaded by the metro, the awards seek to recognise sporting excellence in the region and to reward those who represent Ekurhuleni nationally, as amateur or professional sports people.

Last year the likes of Paralympian athlete Samkelo Radebe, South African hockey player Bernadette Coston, wrestler Adem Digovich and former Springbok rugby player Lawrence Sephaka received accolades from the first citizen of Ekurhuleni at a glittering ceremony held at Emperors Palace.

The year 2014 will mark the third year of the Ekurhuleni Sports Awards and March 14 is set to be a spectacular occasion.

Sportsmen and women who reside in Ekurhuleni or are members of an Ekurhuleni-based sport club or school may be nominated for their outstanding sporting achievements during the period January 1 to December 31, 2013.

The categories for nomination are as follows:

Nominations must be submitted on an official nomination form, completed with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) and motivation, if necessary.

These may be submitted before or on February 3, at the following Ekurhuleni Sport and Recreation offices:
