Border war at the Rock

Brakpan’s Rock Raceway hosted a tyre-smoking battle at the circuit, when it hosted the All Stars Drift Showdown, on Saturday, December 7.

This was one of the last drifting events for the 2013 season and a massive field of 36 entrants from South Africa and neighbouring Mozambique treated the crowds to an awesome showdown between the competitors from both countries.

A Silver Cup and Gold Cup were on the cards and entertained the petrol-heads in attendance.

Some new faces on the drifting scene made their first appearances at the Rock Raceway, while crowd favourites like Clare Vale and Larry Smith were also in action.

The Silver Cup was a terrific contest, with Larry Smith claiming first place, followed by Fred Cooper Snr second and newcomer, Ivan Tarmamade, finishing in third position.

Both semi-finals in the Gold Cup were South Africa vs Mozambique affairs.

Tim Stephens took on Richat Khan and Hannes Frans battled Zein Raidan.

Khan defeated Stephens and progressed to the final, and Frans claimed victory over Raidan. Stephens claimed third place in an encounter against Raidan, while 2013 Club Champion Frans ensured first position by defeating Khan.
