Refuse collectors’ attitudes stink

"The rubbish collectors are very incompetent workers and have no work ethics."

Anonymous writes by email:

This morning (June 12) the Ekurhuleni waste removal employees came to collect refuse at our estate (Oaklane Estate).

I had one wheelie bin and some other rubbish not in the bin.

They emptied the wheelie bin and I myself then filled it again with the other rubbish and had to run a mile after them asking them to empty the bin.

This after they ignored me when I asked them to wait.

They started interrogating me and asked where I lived and from where did I get the bin.

I asked them why are they now interviewing me.

They rudely refused and back-chatted that they are not going to take it.

I was told I should have asked them nicely.

Now I’m stuck with a full bin and am forced to live another week in unhygienic conditions.

The waste will be even more next week.

These guys told me they are Ekurhuleni employees; they won’t lose their jobs and are untouchable. And I can go report them.

They are very incompetent workers and have no work ethics.

Editor’s note: Comment requested from the City of Ekurhuleni was not received at the time of publication.
