My heart goes out to bereaved family

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Damian Gruen, as well as the school.

Amanda White writes by email:

With reference to ‘Gewilde matrikulant sterf in ongeluk‘ in the Herald’s June 12 edition.

My sister lost two of her sons, Armand Brits (33) and Ruan Pieterse (18), in a car accident on June 9, 2018.

Ruan also attended Hoërskool Die Anker.

Armand left a wife and three children behind.

His wife Anita was the only survivor of the accident and had a broken arm and shoulder.

Anita is a hairdresser by profession and had nothing when Armand died, and she had to undergo many surgeries.

The accident happened across from the Life Springs Parkland Hospital at about 11pm.

In the same accident, a friend of Armand’s also died and left a wife and three small children behind.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Damian Gruen, as well as the school.

I feel that the memory of two years ago must still be with the teachers.

My family and friends have already donated to the family and we will try and support as far as we can, as this is going to be a long road ahead for them.

We, as a family, still struggle to this day with the loss of two brothers.
