• What do the duties of a communications officer entail?

There are many different aspects, but the main duty is to build a good, positive relationship with the community.

As the police, we cannot work alone and we need the community’s help to fight against crime.

Another important aspect is working with the media, which I do on a daily basis.

• What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?

When I visit schools to talk to children about the police or about drugs and bullying.

I want to spend more time with my family, especially my grandchildren.

As a police officer, I have a very busy schedule and don’t often get to spend a lot of time with them.

I also want to go fishing and camping.

• It is no secret you are are a Blue Bulls supporter. Do you think they have a chance at winning the Super 18 this year?

I think they’ll get into the semi-finals, but they won’t win.

They’re still quite a young team.

• What is your most valued Blue Bulls possession?

A miniature blue bulls jersey signed by Naas Botha.

I’ve had it since 1990.

Port Edward in KwaZulu-Natal.

• What are your favourite food and drink?

Steak and brandy

• Name three things you couldn’t live without:
