Trigger-happy gunmen target Minnebron supermarket

Cash and cellphones stolen during business robbery.

A gang of men armed with rifles and handguns shot off a round of gunfire as they fled a Minnebron supermarket after robbing the owner of cash and cellphones yesterday morning (Sunday).

Police information reveals four men entered the supermarket on Eric Holdtman Avenue at around 10:30 and ordered the shop owner (29) to lie on the floor.

At least three other accomplices stood guard outside.

The owner was forced to open the tills and the robbers helped themselves to over R20 000 in cash.

They also took two cellphones belonging to the owner. As they fled the shop, the robbers fired several shots into the air.

They made their getaway in a blue Toyota Quest. Spent cartridges were recovered on the scene by police.
