Hijackers target bakkie driver

The victim was robbed of his company vehicle.

A 46-year-old Daveyton resident fell victim to hijackers while travelling along Heidelberg Road in Brakpan on January 10.

According to information received from Brakpan SAPS, the victim was threatened by a lone gunman when he stopped at the stop street at the Koot Road intersection at around 10:00.

The hijacker was armed with a silver pistol. He got into the vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux bakkie owned by the victim’s employer, and instructed him to drive to Nigel.

After driving for some time, and at one point travelling along a gravel road, they reached an area where a white sedan was parked.

Five to six men were waiting near the car. The men bound the victim’s hands with cable ties and covered his head.

He was also robbed of his cellphone.

The victim was later released in Roodepoort.
